Regular Admissions

Applications are considered for the main campus in Storrs on a space-available basis. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions strongly recommends that you apply to UConn online and as early as possible.

Applications received after the Dec. 1 Early Action date will be processed on a rolling basis. Applications are reviewed and decisions are made after the Office of Undergraduate Admissions has received all required information.

In some cases a final admission decision may be deferred until receipt of additional information, such as mid-year grades. You will be notified of your admission status beginning in early March and continuing through mid-April.

Deferred Enrollment

Deferred enrollment is designed for students who desire to attend the University of Connecticut but, for various reasons, wish to postpone their enrollment. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions offers a one year deferred enrollment to students who have applied to the University, been accepted as freshmen and have paid the $150 acceptance fee.

An approved deferral guarantees your admission for either of the subsequent two academic semesters.  Under no circumstances, during the deferred period, will the deferred student be allowed to enroll at another institution as a full-time or part-time student and earn 12 or more credits.  If the student does enroll in 12 or more credits at another institution, the deferred admission will be void.

Please be aware, it is the student's responsibility to contact the Office of Student Financial Aid Services to determine how deferred enrollment will affect the student’s financial aid package.  In addition, a deferment request is not applicable to merit scholarships awarded by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions or to admission to the Honors Program. Students selected for either of these programs are subject to an additional eligibility review. Admissions' Merit Scholarships are not available for students deferring to the Spring semester.

Requests for deferral must be in writing and should be received by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions no later than August 1 for the fall semester or December 1 for the spring semester.

International students and transfer students are not eligible for deferred enrollment.
