Freshman Admission Requirements

Thank you for your interest in the University of Connecticut. Freshman applicants are reviewed through a holistic approach. Consideration is given to the entire application including grade point average, class rank, SAT or ACT score, required essay, extracurricular activities and optional letters of recommendation. This allows us to gain a full understanding and measurement of an applicant’s potential to be a successful UConn Husky.

Admission Requirements

Applicants should be attending an approved high school program. Upon graduation, you must have completed at least 16 units, with 15 in college preparatory work. Students should complete, as a minimum, the following college preparatory courses while in high school:

High School Course Requirements
4 years of English
3 years of math (algebra I, algebra II and geometry)
2 years of social studies (including 1 year of U.S. History)
2 years of a single foreign language (3 years strongly recommended)*
2 years of laboratory science
3 years of electives

School of Engineering & School of Nursing applicants: high school chemistry and physics are required.

* Two years of a documented foreign language, that is not English, without level repetition is required.
