Special Program in Law

UConn’s Special Program in Law provides a unique opportunity for students interested in pursuing a professional career in law. Top students enrolled in the program will be able to obtain a broad-based liberal arts education while preparing for their law school experience. This unique educational choice offers admissson to the School of Law provided all standards and contingencies are met.

Admission to this select program is limited. All students must meet both the December 1 undergraduate early admission deadline as well as the January 1 Special Program in Law supplemental application deadline. Applicants admitted to this program will be expected to maintain a high level of achievement throughout their undergraduate career. In addition, all members of the Special Program in Law will be guaranteed admission to the University’s Honors Program. For more information about academic criteria and requirements, please view the Special Program in Law fact sheet.

As undergraduates, students will be afforded unique opportunities for classes with Law School faculty members, interaction with administrators and students, and an enriched curriculum that will prepare them for law school. Students admitted into the program will be required to meet rigorous standards throughout their undergraduate career.

Students must indicate interest in the program when completing the University’s Application for Admission. Due to the rigorous demands of the application process for the Special Programs in Medicine, Dental Medicine, and Law, applicants may only select one Special Program. A Supplemental Application, available for download in PDF format, is also required.
