Special Program in Medicine and Dental Medicine
Students preparing for a professional career in medicine and dentistry should explore UConn’s Special Program in Medicine and Dental Medicine. When admitted to this program as a college freshman, you begin a coordinated curriculum that includes four years of undergraduate work and admission to UConn’s Schools of Medicine or Dental Medicine.
At the conclusion of the program you’ll have earned both your undergraduate degree, as well as a doctorate in either medicine or dental medicine. Admission to the
Special Program in Medicine and Dental Medicine is highly
selective. About a dozen students are admitted each year.
It is the only program of its kind offered by a public university
in New England.
Students that want to be considered for the Medical program should have a high school class ranking in the top
5 percent, an overall grade point average of 3.5 or higher,
and an SAT combined critical reading and math score of 1300 or an ACT composite score of 30.
Students interested in the Dentistry program should have a high school class ranking in the top 10 percent, an overall grade point average of 3.5 or higher, and an SAT combined critical reading and math score of 1300 or an ACT composite score of 30.

you must submit your undergraduate admission application by
Dec. 1. Students are also required to submit a supplemental
application for this program. Your supplemental application,
and all required documents, must be received by Jan. 1.
