Vice President's Welcome

Nathan FuerstWelcome to the University of Connecticut admissions site! As you spend more time on our site and interact with our staff, faculty and students, I am certain you will discover why UConn is one of the most exceptional public universities in the world. You need not take our word for it. UConn is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top public universities in the nation!

Here is what puts UConn at the top:

Student success:  Students at UConn have been ranked among the happiest students nationally, mostly due to our incredibly high graduation and retention rates.  92% of freshmen return for their sophomore year and UConn ranks among the top public universities for average salary, graduation rates, and more!

Connections: UConn students are engaged and connected to their community, enhancing their experience beyond their years in Storrs, CT. Join one of our 620 clubs (and counting!).  Or volunteer and add to the one million hours that students devote to community service every year. Work on campus, join an intramural or club sports team, or take advantage of our more than 275 study abroad programs in 60 countries and become a global citizen. We promise your UConn experience will be a unique one.

A true home away from home: UConn has one of the highest percentages of students living on campus at a public university in the US. with 96% of freshman choosing to live on campus. With our specialized living and learning communities, students can live with other students that share the same interests or major. Cultural Centers give students the opportunity to engage in cultural events and promote awareness among fellow peers.

Huskymania: Twenty-two NCAA Division I National Championships give proof to the bite in this bark!  Whether you are camping outside Gampel for the best seat in the house, rooting on the Huskies at “The Rent” or cheering on any one of our 24 top athletic teams, you will find yourself wrapped up in Huskymania!

A bright future: With more than 225,000 alumni all over the world, current UConn students are given the opportunity to network with former Huskies through our Alumni Association. UConn connections run far and wide, whether you aspire for Broadway or Wall Street, Classrooms or Laboratories, working in Connecticut or Abroad, you need not wait to graduate to get your foot in the door.  The Alumni Mentor program is just one of the many reasons our graduates are among the most highly employed and highest average salaries among public university graduations nationally!

If you like what you hear, consider joining our mailing list or applying today. We also encourage you to sign up for a campus tour so you can see for yourself why you belong at the University of Connecticut.

Go Huskies!
