You’re in. So, what’s next?

Your place at UConn is secured by completing your Reply Form found in your applicant portal and submitting the $400 non-refundable enrollment fee within two weeks of the date marked on your acceptance letter. Your enrollment fee confirms your commitment to attend the University of Connecticut and is applied toward your orientation session. Your enrollment fee is not applied directly to your tuition.

Review and/or Accept Your Financial Aid Offer

If you were awarded financial aid for the spring semester, visit your applicant portal to view and accept, reduce or decline your offer.

Submit the FAFSA

Students who wish to apply for financial aid must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). For the best possible financial aid package, the FAFSA must be received by the Federal Processor by UConn’s on-time deadline of February 15.

Financial aid is unavailable for international students.

Incoming first-year and transfer students are prioritized for University housing at our Storrs and Stamford campuses. Submit the online housing application by November 15 or within two weeks of the date marked on your acceptance letter if you are interested in University housing. Please note that it may take 3-5 business days after the enrollment fee has been paid for the housing application to become accessible. Early completion is recommended as space is limited. Details regarding the housing selection process will be sent to your UConn student email account beginning late December.

Once your enrollment fee is received, you’ll be invited to UConn’s onboarding portal in mid-November where you will complete a series of tasks including registering for an orientation session. All new students are required to attend an orientation session where you’ll learn more about our academic programs, student community, and on-campus services; meet with an academic advisor; and select spring semester classes. Details will be sent to your personal email account.

You are required to complete and submit a mandatory Student Health History Questionnaire, including proof of all required immunizations, prior to attending orientation. Documents may be uploaded to your student health portal. Visit Student Health and Wellness for more information.

First-year students will need to submit their official final high school/secondary school transcript, including graduation date to enroll at UConn. Transfer students must submit their official final transcript from the institution most recently attended. Transcripts must be submitted to UConn directly from the institution either electronically through an authorized provider such as Parchment, eSCRIP or National Clearinghouse, or by postal mail in a sealed envelope.

Final transcripts must be received by January 15.

Students who attended an institution outside of the United States where the transcript is in a language other than English must submit both an official transcript in the native language as well as a certified translation.

If you are a first-year student and have participated in a concurrent partnership program while in high school, official transcripts should be sent to the University of Connecticut directly by the participating college or university. Credit is considered for transfer, but some restrictions can apply. Mathematics courses can be transferable at any level, however credit is awarded at the discretion of the University of Connecticut’s Mathematics Department. UConn considers all courses completed in partnership programs for transfer credit in keeping with NACEP standards.

Transfer Credit Reports are made available to incoming first-year students when credits are posted early in the first semester.

If you took Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate courses in high school, view the equivalencies. Official AP scores must be sent directly from the College Board to be considered for AP credit. To be considered for IB credit, the official IB transcript must be sent directly from the IB Office to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and students must have earned the IB Diploma.

If you are a transfer student, your transfer credit summary is available to you at the time of admission and can be found in your applicant portal. Your academic advisor will discuss the report with you in detail when you register for courses during Orientation.

The Form I-20 will enable you to apply for the F-1 visa necessary to study in the United States. The F-1 application should be completed immediately as it is difficult to determine the length of time for processing.  Your Form I-20 will be available electronically in the ISSS Portal after your supporting documents and enrollment fee are received. In order to provide the most accurate information, please allow 24 hours from submitting your enrollment fee to access the ISSS Portal.

Fall fee bills are issued by mid-June and due August 1. It is important to plan how you are going to pay for your fee bill in advance. Even if you are receiving grants, scholarships, and/or taking out loans, you may still have a balance you need to pay out-of-pocket. You can start planning now by reviewing helpful fee bill information on the Office of the Bursar website, including a Tuition & Fees Estimator Tool to help determine your expected out-of-pocket balance and payment plan options.

Gap Year and Deferment Requests

We understand that admission is not a one-size-fits-all process and that there are reasons first-year students may need to delay the start of their UConn education to up to a year from the admission term. Whether it be to pursue a unique travel opportunity, to serve in the military or public service, or due to chronic illness, simply submit the Gap Year/Deferment Request Form found in your applicant portal and share your plan with us. Your non-refundable enrollment fee is still required to secure your seat. Students may not enroll at another institution, professional certification program, or participate in a post-graduate year at a secondary school during the gap year/deferment period.

Transfer students are not eligible for a gap year/deferment request. If you are a transfer student who wishes to postpone admission, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at beahusky@uconn.edu for next steps in the admission process.
