School of Nursing
Advance the health of individuals and communities, both locally and globally. Discover what it takes to respond to the changing health care environment. UConn's School of Nursing is leading the way using high-tech simulation labs and health care technology innovation programs to educate nurses to serve diverse populations in a variety of clinical settings.
A major nursing shortage both globally and in the United States - particularly those with bachelor's degrees or advanced practice certifications - threatens human health. Connecticut is no exception, with an expected shortage of thousands of nurses by 2030. This shortage, however, provides an ideal opportunity for you to consider nursing as a career.
At UConn, students pursuing a bachelor's degree in nursing will benefit from:
- Clinical simulation laboratories, which keep students up-to-date on the latest skills and technology, helping them transfer theory into practice.
- An emphasis on innovation and new knowledge development, which ensures every student is educated on health care and nursing innovation within the curriculum of their core program and provides opportunities for students to pursue innovation development with mentored guidance from faculty.
- Our faculty members' research, which explores and improves every aspect of health care from parent and child health to managing pain and cardiac disease in older adults, from disease prevention to health promotion, and from low-tech interventions to high-tech informatics. Students benefit from continuous involvement with faculty and their innovative research.
Care for those in need.
